Pretty much all connections between TV and getting frisky are amusing to me

John Shade, your fortune is cryptic

John Shade, your fortune is cryptic

It’s too easy to fall in love with Fol Chen. In fact, it’s almost as easy as following a tried-and-true formula, much like a chemical reaction or a rom-com starring Sandra Bullock. Here are the essential components:

– One multi-membered band that makes references to Led Zeppelin but sounds more like The Blow. I can absolutely get behind sounding like both simultaneously.
– One part sitar-like flourish, meant to set your shoulders and ab muscles a’popping.
– One irresistible synth rhythm.
– One song about spending time with the object of one’s affection, possibly by hanging out and watching TV. I can absolutely get behind performing these activities simultaneously.
– One fond recollection of the object of one’s affection dancing in his underwear, thus causing the narrator to fall in love or like or lust or something.
– One notable allusion to a Janet Jackson song from before the infamous wardrobe malfunction, dating back to when she was simply Ms. Jackson (if you’re nasty).
– One video presenting a troupe of contemporary Fly Girls, clad in scarves and dancing in empty swimming pools.
– No Sandra Bullock. It’s totally irrational, but I refuse her.
